How do I know what AC system size I need?
We run a Manual J load calculation — it accounts for windows, insulation, exposure, and air leakage. Most homes get sized on a square-footage rule of thumb that's often significantly off, which is why so many systems short-cycle and don't dehumidify properly.
Should I get central AC or ductless mini-splits?
Have ducts already? Central is usually the right answer. No ducts (older homes, additions, finished basements)? Mini-splits avoid tearing out walls. We'll walk you through both options with real numbers.
Do mini-splits work in Massachusetts winters?
Yes. Modern cold-climate units (Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat, LG Inverter) maintain rated capacity at 5°F and keep producing heat to -13°F. The 'mini-splits don't work up north' line is from 1990s technology.
What rebates are available on new AC systems?
Mass Save rebates apply to most heat-pump installs (which cool AND heat). Whole-home systems qualify for the largest rebates. Standard AC-only installs may qualify for utility rebates depending on the SEER tier — we file all rebate paperwork for you.
