What we do

Sales, service, installation — under one roof.

Most standby generator jobs touch three trades: gas plumber, electrician, and concrete. We're licensed for the gas and electrical sides, and we coordinate the pad. One number to call, no finger-pointing if something needs follow-up.

Sales — sized for YOUR home, not the catalog

Free in-home load assessment. We measure what you actually want backed up — central AC, well pump, furnace, refrigerator, sump — and recommend the right kW unit. No upselling to whole-home if a managed-circuit setup is the better call.

Installation — gas, electrical, pad, permits

Concrete pad poured, gas line sized and run from the meter, automatic transfer switch tied into your panel, generator commissioned and tested. We pull every permit (gas + electrical) and schedule inspections.

Service — maintenance + emergency repair

Annual maintenance plans cover oil, filters, battery, and exercise cycle. Emergency repair after storms — we keep the common Kohler and Generac parts in stock.

How it works

From phone call to walkthrough — done right.

  1. 1. In-home assessment

We walk the property, listen to what matters most when the power goes out, and measure your gas-line capacity, panel space, and pad-ready location.

  2. 2. Written quote

Itemized pricing for the generator, transfer switch, gas line work, electrical work, concrete pad, and permits. No surprises.

  3. 3. Installation + commissioning

Pad set, gas piping run and pressure-tested, transfer switch tied into your panel, generator placed and commissioned. Inspections scheduled and passed.

  4. 4. Test + walkthrough + maintenance plan

Full transfer test (we kill the main and watch the generator pick up your load). We walk you through the monitoring app and set up your annual maintenance cadence.

Why Competitive

We don't promise quality. We deliver it.

  • Two trades, one crew

Most generator installs need a gas plumber AND an electrician. We're licensed for both — no scheduling jockeying, no 'that's the other guy's part'.

  • Kohler & Generac authorized

We install both major brands and recommend honestly based on your house and budget. Both have their strengths — we'll tell you which suits you.

  • Permit-savvy in MA

Massachusetts gas + electrical permitting is its own ecosystem. We've pulled hundreds of permits in towns from Lakeville to Newton — we know which inspectors want what.

  • Real maintenance, not box-checking

We exercise the unit under load (not just the weekly self-test), test the transfer switch, swap consumables. The point: it WILL work when you need it.

FAQ

Common questions about standby generators.

  • Kohler or Generac — which one should I get?

Both are solid. Generac has a wider dealer network and parts are cheaper. Kohler tends to be quieter with slightly better build quality for premium installs. We'll recommend based on your house, your budget, and what's in stock when you need it.

  • How big a generator do I need?

Depends on what you want backed up. Lights + fridge + furnace + well pump usually needs ~14kW. Add central AC and you're at 20–22kW. Whole-home (including electric range and dryer) is 24–26kW. We do a real load calc — not a square-footage guess.

  • Natural gas or propane?

Natural gas if you have it at the house — no tank to refill, runs as long as the gas keeps flowing. Propane if you don't have natural gas — a properly sized tank gives several days of continuous run. Both work great.

  • How long does an install take?

On-site work is usually 1–2 days for the gas + electrical + commissioning, plus a separate earlier day for the concrete pad to cure. Total elapsed time from contract to fully-commissioned-and-passed is typically 2–4 weeks including permits and inspections.

  • Do you service generators you didn't install?

Yes — we service all major brands regardless of who did the original install. Annual maintenance plans and emergency repair both available.

Rob's work is top notch. I'm a picky engineer. His choice of equipment, materials and his workmanship was excellent. In the bidding process, Rob was responsive, honest, competent, creative, and respectful.
